Poland refuses to participate in “Slavianski Bazaar”

The Polish organisers of the national selection for "Slavianski Bazaar" have refused to take part in the festival. We are convinced that other countries should do the same

The NAM sent a letter to Słowiańska Dusza, the Polish organizers of the national selection for "Slavianski Bazaar" in Vitebsk, thanking the association for refusing to take part in the festival.

We reiterate our position that it is impossible to hold the festival in a country where mass repression continues unabated. "Slavianski Bazaar" this year is a political act against free and independent art. Also, the festival, given the lack of proper anti Covid measures in the country, poses a threat to the health of the participants and guests of the event.

The National Anti-Crisis Management is grateful to Słowiańska Dusza for not being indifferent to the fate of Belarusian cultural figures. We believe that the decision of the association will be a good example for the organizing committees of other countries involved in the national selections for "Slavianski Bazaar".

The NAM also invited Słowiańska Dusza to hold an online festival of solidarity with the Belarusian people from July 14 to 19, 2021 and invite the artists from Belarus who suffered repression. The cultural community of free Belarusians is ready to cooperate with Słowiańska Dusza.
