The responsibility of Lukashenko and highlighting the situation in Belarus within the framework of the European Union were the main topics of the meeting between the Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet, Head of the National Anti-Crisis Management, Pavel Latushka, and the Chairman of the Committee on EU Affairs at the Bundestag, Anton Hofreiter.

The Chairman of the Committee on Cooperation with the EU in the Bundestag proactively proposed a series of measures aimed at focusing attention on the situation in Belarus within the framework of meetings of the chairpersons of EU affairs committees of the parliaments of EU member states. Anton Hofreiter intends to initiate a discussion of the situation in Belarus at the next session.

Separately, Pavel Latushka informed about the work of the Anti-Crisis Management and presented the position of the democratic forces on the issue of holding Lukashenko accountable, emphasizing the importance of Germany’s support for Lithuania’s appeal to the International Criminal Court. During the meeting, the parties discussed advocacy for the case against Lukashenko both from Germany and from other ICC member states.

Pavel Latushka also requested not to recognize as "elections" the farce that Lukashenko plans to organize in Belarus in 2025. The Chairman of the Committee on Cooperation with the EU in the Bundestag, Anton Hofreiter, agreed with this assessment.

Separately, Pavel Latushka informed about the activities of the Coordination Council and, as the leader of the faction in the Coordination Council holding the largest number of mandates, noted the importance of establishing contacts between the Bundestag and the representative body of Belarusian democratic forces.

I sincerely thank Anton Hofreiter for the ongoing working cooperation and the established friendly dialogue on all matters important to the democratic forces of Belarus in Germany.
