NAM Appeals Against Extradition of Andrei Gnyot to Belarus

Following the Serbian court's decision to extradite Andrei Gnyot, the National Anti-Crisis Management (NAM) has issued another urgent appeal this week. NAM is calling on a working group of representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and embassies of several European countries – including Poland, Germany, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and Austria – to advocate against his extradition. Gnyot faces an illegal political sentence, torture, and possibly death under the Lukashenko regime.

Andrei's lawyers are currently preparing an appeal to overturn the extradition decision.

NAM has repeatedly recommended, including after Gnyot's transfer to house arrest, that his representatives urgently file for refugee status. Unfortunately, NAM cannot directly initiate this procedure, as it depends on the actions of his Serbian legal counsels.

NAM is actively engaging with Serbian human rights organizations, urging them to recognize Andrei Gnyot as a political prisoner. Additionally, NAM is seeking assistance from international refugee law experts to support Gnyot's application for refugee status.
