"Judge" Dmitry Bubenchik

"Judge" of Grodno regional court Dmitry Bubenchyk (15.07.1985) passed politically motivated sentences to citizens who condemned the war against Ukraine, expressed disagreement with Lukashenko's regime and violence by representatives of power structures. By his actions, he seriously violated and continues to violate human rights, undermines the rule of law, and puts pressure on civil society.

The so-called "judge" Bubenchyk passed unlawful sentences on political prisoners:

  • Yuri Zhukovsky - 8 years in a high-security penal colony;

  • Marina Sankevich - 7 years in a general regime penal colony;

  • Andrei Rozhkov - 3 years in a general regime penal colony;

  • Aleksei Zabiran - 3 years in a general regime penal colony.

Bubenchik also convicted political prisoner Sergei Kirikovich, illegally sentencing him to 4.5 years in prison and serving his sentence in a strict regime colony for comments in social networks about the Russian military.

He convicted a 34-year-old resident of Slonim Alexander Petushkov and illegally sentenced the man to 7.5 years' imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony. Reposts and comments calling for a strike, closure of businesses, and resumption of protests were the basis for the criminal case and sentencing. There were also proposals to law enforcement officers and generals to remove their shoulder straps. He used the words "usurper" and "illegitimate" in relation to Lukashenko.

Dmitry Bubenchik holds a closed trial on Andrei Pochobut, journalist and member of the de-registered Union of Poles in Belarus, on charges of calling for sanctions and inciting hatred.

Pavel Latushka, representative of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus and head of the NAM, made a proposal to the EU and Ukraine to apply personal sanctions to Dmitry Vitalievich Bubenchik.

In the future, this "judge," as well as others who carry out repression and facilitate it, will be held criminally liable.
