The illegitimate regime in Belarus headed by usurper of power Lukashenka has made our country an accomplice to aggression against the brotherly Ukrainian people. Once again it grossly violated both the norms of the Belarusian legislation and the international legal obligations of our State, in particular the provisions of the 1995 Treaty on Friendship between Belarus and Ukraine, which stipulates that "Each Party undertakes to refrain from participating in or supporting any action against the other Party and from using its territory to the detriment of the other Party’s security interests".
On behalf of the Belarusian people we declare that we consider the aggression against Ukraine an international crime on the part of the Russian and Belarusian regimes, express our sincere solidarity with the struggle of the Ukrainian people and our readiness to use all mechanisms to restore peace both on the regional and global scale.
The democratic forces of the Republic of Belarus proceed from the premise that Belarus and Ukraine are friendly and fraternal countries with no history of military conflicts. This should be recognized as an inviolable principle of further building of relations between Belarus and Ukraine on the basis of unconditional fulfilment of obligations and also generally acknowledged principles of international law, including the respect for sovereignty and inviolability of borders, which are enshrined in the existing bilateral agreements between our countries.
