The deputy of the head of the NAM Vladimir Astapenko speaks out on the subject of the occupation of Belarus on "Grianul Grem"
Under international law, a country that has made its territory available for aggression is an accomplice and is considered an aggressor. Belarus has been dragged into a war in which it had no interest from the outset. This fact will go down in the history books as an example of an absolutely thoughtless and short-sighted policy.
Lukashenko has already written himself up as a war criminal regardless of whether he introduces ground troops into Ukraine or not. According to the insider information we have, morale in the Belarusian troops is not as high as Russian headquarters would like it to be. This increases the risk that Belarusian soldiers may surrender or switch to the Ukrainian side.
The only rational explanation for the paradoxical situation in which Belarus finds itself is the recognition of the occupation of our country’s territory by the Russian Federation. In a situation of total failure of foreign policy, Belarus has been dragged into a war without taking into account the opinion of the people, without appropriate legal decisions, without any historical, political or economic prerequisites.
In the future, a clear framework for advocacy work should have been defined to exclude the promotion of imperialism, chauvinism and aggressive plans to expand its territory.
As part of a united strategy of pressure on the Lukashenko regime, democratic forces are bringing closer the moment when Belarus will have a new democratic government that is inclusive and truly able to defend its national interests.
