Head of the NAM Pavel Latushka and responsible for multilateral diplomacy Vladzimir Astapenka met with Eamon Gilmore, EU Special Representative for Human Rights, as part of a working visit to Brussels.

Eamon Gilmore considers his main task to keep the issue of Belarus high on the international agenda and to raise the subject of political prisoners and torture against Belarusians at all UN, EU and other international forums.

The politician is also in favor of further sanctions against Lukashenka’s regime due to the ongoing repression.

They also discussed the creation of international legal mechanisms to bring Lukashenka and representatives of the regime to account for massive human rights violations. Among other things, they talked about the possibility of using the instruments of the international ad hoc court for Belarus.
